The Product

Icetrak has been designed and developed after a great deal of discussion with our customer base. One of the recurring topics was a demand for simplicity. Icetrak is a simple system with just five basic component parts:

Outbound messaging

Any message has the same building blocks. What information needs sending, who is the information to be sent to, how is the information to be sent, when is it to be sent and does the sender need positive confirmation of its delivery?

Icetrak allows the user to meet all these criteria when sending faxes, telexes, or SMS messages. The user simply e-mails the file to the Icetrak service and we do the rest. The e-mail you send will contain all the data we need to transmit the message. Any necessary formatting, document conversions, compressions or filtering is done by our system thus freeing up resources on your network. Most importantly, once we have either sent the message, or for some reason failed to send the message, you will be advised accordingly.

A key feature of Icetrak is its huge capacity. Unlike some other services, Icetrak has access to many thousands of fax and telex lines and almost unlimited access to SMS output. This gives enormous scope for scalability and also means your messages will be sent sooner.

Inbound messaging

The rapid acceptance of unified messaging in a business environment has been brought about by the common desire to have a single location for all messages. Icetrak follows this logic by submitting all inbound messages to the user’s email Inbox. Each Icetrak user is issued with a personal DDI number which supports fax and voice. A fax sent to that number will appear as a file in the Inbox. Clicking on that file will open it, allowing it to be read, printed, annotated, forwarded and filed.

If the number is dialled from a voice phone, the caller will be prompted to leave a voice message. This will appear as a ".wav" file in the user’s Inbox and can be listened to providing the PC is configured with a sound card.

Administration tools

Icetrak also has a unique suite of administration tools. Because Icetrak has been developed by specialists in messaging systems for many years, it contains all the functions normally associated with a LAN based system. However, these functions are provided by a browser rather than another piece of PC resident client software.

Integration

Icetrak can be integrated with almost any application be it an accounting system, an ERP package or a database. This is achieved by use of a tried and tested programming interface, a very small component which is compiled onto the application server. This remote API consists of a small amount of C code which has only one purpose, that being to communicate with the core API resident on our server.

The benefit to the customer is that message types can be purchase orders, statements, quotations etc.

Technical services

Our customers rely on Icetrak for business critical messaging. We pride ourselves on offering a range of technical services spanning telephone support, site visits, training and custom building software. Despite the fact that Icetrak is very simple, it is also very powerful and has a wide range of capabilities in an e-commerce environment.
